One of the most celebrated bands in the world for nearly two decades, The Shins have carved out a niche through unique sounds, smart lyrics and a dedicated following. Started by James Mercer in the late-90’s, The Shins burst onto the scene with 2001’s “Oh, Inverted World,” an album Pitchfork named as one of the top 200 albums of the 2000s, praising its “impossibly graceful pop moments.” The Shins followed up the success of their debut with 2003’s “Chutes Too Narrow” to even further critical acclaim including a top 25 spot in Paste Magazine’s top 50 albums of the decade.

After releasing “Wincing the Night Away” in 2007, mastermind James Mercer stepped away from The Shins to take a break and focus on the Danger Mouse collaboration Broken Bells. However, The Shins triumphantly returned in 2012 with “Port of Morrow” and released their most recent album “Heartworms,” this past March. Through it all, The Shins have kept a busy schedule, including performing at major festivals like Coachella and Lollapalooza. This year adds 80/35 to their festival season, for a night that just may change a lot of lives forever.
