It seems fitting that MGMT would be headlining the 10th annual 80/35 music festival. 2008 was when 80/35 kicked off, and it was also the breakthrough year for the Brooklyn via Connecticut duo of Andrew VanWyngarden and Ben Goldwasser. That was the year that MGMT’s debut, “Oracular Spectacular” put the band on the map, thanks to the hits “Time to Pretend,” “Kids” and “Electric Feel.” In 2012, Rolling Stone named it one of the top 500 albums of all time.

It’s been four long years since MGMT’s last album, but 2017 is looking to be a return to form for the band. Late last year the band announced plans for 2017 to be the year MGMT “re-dominates your mind hole.” New music is still forthcoming, but the band has lined up a busy year of touring so far, playing festivals across the country (including 80/35).

Back in 2008, it would be hard to believe that either MGMT or 80/35 would be where they are today. It’s the perfect time to revisit now-classic songs along with some new tunes while celebrating 10 years of 80/35.
